Admitted Students

On behalf of our team, welcome to the Cratis D. Williams School of Graduate Studies at Appalachian State University!  We are happy to include you as part of the graduate student community at App State, and look forward to supporting and working with you.

Enrollment Steps

1. Confirm Your Attendance

You must confirm your attendance to begin the enrollment process. To accept your offer, log into your application status page and indicate your acceptance at the bottom of your status page.

2. Verify Username & Banner ID

Once you have received your App State credentials, log into Appalnet and check your email to receive your username and Banner ID. You may set your password by using the Password Manager

3. Register for Classes

Register for classes through Appalnet after you contact your program director for guidance in course selection. Follow this registration tutorial for step-by-step instructions.

4. Pick Up AppCard

Pick up your AppCard through the AppCard Office. App State alumnus may continue using their existing AppCard.

5. Register for Parking Permit

Graduate students who are pre-registered for Fall classes or have a graduate assistantship may register for a parking permit through Parking and Transportation.

6. Complete Health Forms

Complete your health forms and show proof of insurance through Student Health Services.

Note: If you need to postpone your enrollment, please let both the Graduate School and your program know. If you do not register or request a deferral during the first 10 days of classes, your admission will be canceled and you will have to start the application process again.


New Graduate Student Orientation provides new students with the opportunity to connect with campus support services and resources, along with the Graduate School staff, to help them get a successful start! Attend one of the following sessions to learn more:

  • Orientation for Summer 1 and Summer 2 will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 6:00 - 7:30 pm via Zoom (check your email for the Zoom link) (RSVP here)

Some programs offer a departmental orientation for on-campus students. Please check with your advisor or department contact for the time and location. If your departmental orientation overlaps with the above sessions, you should attend your departmental orientation and any part of the Graduate School orientation that time allows. Please contact if you are unsure of your advisor or department contact.
