2016-17 Ambassadors

  • Amber Horvath

    Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC

    Graduate Program: Elementary Education

About me: My graduate assistantship is through the College Access Partnerships. Our department plans and hosts campus visits of elementary and middle school students to encourage continuing education beyond high school! On a typically day, you can catch me with the campus visitors or subbing at one of the local elementary schools! I am hoping to return to Chapel Hill to teach in the primary grades (K-2). I love any and all types of dogs and running!

  • Kelsey Krepps

    Hometown: Titusville, PA

Graduate Program: MA in Appalachian Studies; MS in Technology

About Me: I love being outdoors whether that's lying on the beach, hiking, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, biking, running or just going for a walk. I am committed to sustainability, volunteering and being actively involved in my community in whatever ways I can. My spirit animal is The Lorax, daisies are my favorite flower and Sundays are the best day of the week.

  • Marissa Minnick

    Hometown: Durham, NC

    Graduate Program: Elementary Education

About me: I graduated from Appalachian State University with my Bachelor's degree in elementary education in May 2016. I am passionate about public education and think that elementary students' creativity, knowledge, and ability to engage in critical thinking is often underestimated. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading nonfiction books, playing board games or watching The Office with my husband, and spending time with my six hermit crabs.

  • Brooke Mitchell

    Hometown: Fairfax, VA

Graduate Program: Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management

About Me: I love traveling and experiencing new culture, binge-watching TV/movies, and sports.  I have many interests in Human Resources, but if I had to pick my favorites, they would be Talent Management and Development, specifically leadership and women in leadership.

  • Savannah Paige Murray

    Hometown: Candler, NC

Graduate Program: MA in Appalachian Studies

  • Skylar Ritchie

    Hometown: Santa Monica, CA

Graduate Program: MBA & MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology & Human Resource Management (IOHRM)

About Me: Although I grew up in LA and spent four years working in Phoenix, I love the outdoors--skiing/snowboarding, camping, fly fishing, etc.--and Boone has some amazing outdoor opportunities, so I'm trying to get as much of that in as I can.

I love playing games such as pool, cards, charades, cornhole and scrabble. In my downtime (if there is such a thing!) I enjoy art making, playing music and reading a good book. I am very passionate about following God's will and allowing Him to be present and active through my life.
