Accelerated Master's Applicant

If you are an undergraduate student at App State, you may already be enrolled in a program that provides an opportunity to get your master's degree in as little as one year.

Through Accelerated Master's, once you reach the second semester of your junior year at App State, you may begin applying for early acceptance in one of the following programs:

  • Computer Science (MS)
  • Engineering Physics (MS)
  • English (MA)

  • Geography (MA)
  • Higher Education (MA)
  • History (MA)
  • Literacy Education (MA)
  • Mathematics (MA)
  • Music Performance (MM)
  • Music Therapy (MMT)
  • Nutrition: Public Health Nutrition Practice Concentration (MS)
  • Political Science (MA)
  • Psychology: Experimental Concentration (MA)
  • Public Administration (MPA)
  • Romance Languages (French/Spanish) (MA)
  • Special Education (MA)

Eligibility

Minimum GPA requirements are required and vary among programs. Visit the program website for more information.

If you are accepted into the Accelerated Master's program, you will be tentatively admitted into the Graduate School. You will then be granted access to register for graduate-level classes while still enrolled as an undergraduate. After graduating from App State as an undergraduate and before the start of the next graduate term, you will transition to a graduate student and may be eligible for fellowships, assistantships, scholarships, and financial aid available for graduate students.

Application Requirements

The following steps are required to complete an application for the Accelerated Master's program.

  • Meet with the program director of your desired graduate program to confirm your eligibility and support of your application for the Accelerated Master's program. 
  • Submit your graduate application online.
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee online.
  • Provide three references.
  • Upload your current resume or vita.

Note: App State transcripts will be retrieved after your application is submitted and the application fee is paid.
