Graduate Assistant Position Description: Research Assistant for Dr. Ashley Carpenter, Higher Education Program

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will primarily serve as a research assistant for Dr. Ashley Carpenter, Assistant Professor of Higher Education. Project topics will tentatively explore the following topics:
- Arts-Based Methodologies (including Photovoice and Artifact/Photo-Elicitation)
- Experiences of Racially Minoritized College Students
- Campus Climate Data
- Rural Serving Satellite Campuses (Hickory campus)
YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Research and Writing
- Conduct thorough literature reviews regarding various research projects
- Design interview protocols or surveys for research projects
- Collect and analyze data related to projects
- Prepare articles, reports, and conference presentations for submission
- Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
- Draft Institutional Review Board applications for Ethics in Human Research
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a full-time graduate student at Appalachian State University.
- Must be enrolled in an in-person (on-campus) program.
- Ability to work 10 hours per week to fulfill position responsibilities.
