The graduate assistantship position for the University Libraries' Division of Digital Initiatives and Special Collections (DISC) will support the work of the Division's Digital Scholarship and Initiatives (DSI) unit, assisting in tasks related to digitizing and making unique materials available to researchers. DSI is responsible for digitizing and managing online digital collections platforms as well as marketing and ensuring the accessibility of the collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in digitization of unique and rare archival materials;
  • Assist in making online digital archives ADA compliant;
  • Assist in creating marketing and educational materials for the library's institutional repository and for the division;
  • Participate in Open House and other events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in a graduate program at Appalachian State University.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in any of the following: writing, marketing, digital technologies; Interest in history, archives, libraries, Appalachian studies.

Compensation and hours:
20 hours/week for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters
Position begins the first week of Fall 2025
$15.83/hour
Total compensation for the academic year: $9,500.00
