The Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Engagement will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and perception of various campus services including the Campus Store, Campus Dining, Conference & Event Services, Parking & Transportation, Campus Services Express and the University Post Office. This position will involve strategic planning, content creation, social media management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to effectively promote and support campus services. While the role collaborates across the broader Campus Services area, the day‑to‑day work is primarily tied to digital marketing efforts for Campus Dining and the Campus Store.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and curate content for our social media platforms
  • Assist with the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns to promote department events, initiatives, and achievements
  • Create graphics for digital marketing materials, including social media posts, banners, flyers, and email newsletters
  • Collaborate with photographers, and videographers to create multimedia content.
  • Assist in the production and editing of videos to be used in marketing campaigns formats
  • Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and implement innovative marketing ideas
  • Coordinate and execute email marketing campaigns to engage our target audience effectively
  • Write, edit, and publish engaging blog posts on relevant topics to showcase relevant department activities
  • Utilize web analytics to track website performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Create guidelines for engaging with followers, responding to inquiries, and fostering positive relationships with our online community
  • Ensure cohesive branding and messaging across all promotional materials that is in line with University Communication standards

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably with a focus on Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Graphic Design or a related discipline
Enrollment in an Appalachian State University graduate program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Basic knowledge of video production, editing and multimedia software
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different modes of content delivery (social media, email marketing, etc.)
  • Familiarity with media/content management tools
  • Previous experience in content creation for online platforms
  • Understanding of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics and Meta Insights)
  • A keen eye for detail, creativity, and a passion for creating engaging and shareable content
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem-solve, and propose creative solutions

Position Details & Benefits:

  • Start Date: August 10, 2026 (negotiable)
  • Commitment: Approx. 20 hours per week, August - May.
  • At least 75% of hours must be completed during business hours.
  • Compensation: $23.33 per hour, $14,000 for the year.
