The Honors College at Appalachian State University is an inclusive, supportive, and diverse 4-year academic program and residential community serving high-achieving, high-potential, and highly motivated students from every major at Appalachian, and striving for innovative educational, research, co-curricular, service, governance, and leadership opportunities.

We are seeking a GA to become an engaged member of the Honors College team focused on recruitment and Honors College student life and activities.

Specific assignments may include:

• Supporting Honors College recruiting efforts, including learning the art and craft of truly holistic admissions and supervising the work of the Honors College Vanguard Ambassadors, our student tour guides and representatives
• Helping to orient new Honors College students
• Masterminding Honors College student engagement, including academic, co-curricular, social, governance, and service activities
• Advising and collaborating with the Appalachian Honors Association (AHA!), our Honors student 'social' organization
• Supervising our Honors College peer-mentoring program
• Collaborating and coordinating with University Housing to support the
• Honors living-learning communities in Cone and Summit Halls
• Assisting the Dean of the Honors College and other staff as needed

Since the Honors College is in many ways a microcosm of the whole university, this position will give the graduate assistant opportunities to develop experience and high-order skills in leadership, collaboration, communication, program planning and implementation, organization, administration, supervision, and governance. Prior experience with honors education is
helpful but not required. Students who can commit themselves to a two-year term are preferred.

Pay is $15/hour for 20 hours per week, for a total of $4,500 per semester ($9,000 for an academic year).
