THE POSITION
This position will provide research support for Dejanell Mittman, a faculty member in the Counseling, Family Therapy, and Higher Education department. The graduate assistant's work will involve assisting with research projects
focused on school counselor wellness, effective field experiences for school counselors in training, comprehensive school counseling programs, and school counselor turnover. Assistance will be needed with literature reviews,
annotated bibliographies, data organization, data collection & analysis, and manuscript preparation.
THE GA WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Attending regular meetings to work collaboratively and check in on progress
- Conducting literature reviews to identity relevant scholarly articles, books, and other resources
- Supporting data collection and analysis efforts
- Assisting with preparing written reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication
- Completing CITI training through the IRB office
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled full time (9+ credit hours per semester) as a graduate student throughout the term of employment
- Able to consistently work 10 hours per week to fulfill position responsibilities
- Knowledgeable about or willing to learn APA format
- Able to meet regularly in-person or via Zoom
- Strong writing skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS
- Experience organizing and managing data
- Experience writing annotated bibliographies and/or literature reviews
- Organized and capable of independent work
- Detail oriented
- Communicative
- Interest in writing for publication
POSITION DETAILS AND BENEFITS
Start Date: August 18, 2026
Compensation: $16.50/hour
10 hours per week during the academic year (August 17 - December 15 and January 11 - May 15)
Opportunity for renewal for the following academic year dependent upon department funding allocation
