Description:
Academic Services for Student Athletes (ASA) provides a comprehensive range of academic advising, personal support, and eligibility oversight for student athletes at Appalachian. Graduate Assistants assist in our daily operations and support students through our study hall program and one-on-one academic support.
This position works 10-20 hours per week. Evening work is required (1-2 evening shifts per week; 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student-athlete academic success
- Help students use course syllabi, AsULearn, and other resources to understand academic responsibilities
- Developing students' planning strategies through prioritization and organization (i.e., creating weekly to-do lists and study/homework plans)
- Communicate student concerns and/or struggles to academic advisors and learning specialists
- Monitor student academic progress through student grade checks
- Implement academic success plans developed by ASA staff
- Assist with compiling reports and other administrative duties
- Monitor weekday and event study halls
Compensation
ASA Graduate Assistants are paid an hourly rate of $16.67 (equates to about $5000/semester)
