Description:
Academic Services for Student Athletes (ASA) provides a comprehensive range of academic advising, personal support, and eligibility oversight for student athletes at Appalachian. Graduate Assistants assist in our daily operations and support students through our study hall program and one-on-one academic support.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student-athlete academic success
- Help students use course syllabi, AsULearn/Canvas, and other resources to understand academic responsibilities
- Developing students' planning strategies through prioritization and organization (i.e., creating weekly to-do lists and study/homework plans)
- Communicate student concerns and/or struggles to ASA Staff
- Monitor student academic progress through student grade checks
- Implement academic success plans developed by advisors and learning specialists
- Assist with compiling reports and other administrative duties
- Monitor weekday and event study halls
Compensation
Graduate Assistants with Academic Services for Student-Athletes are paid an hourly rate of $16.67.
For the Spring 2027 Semester, we will be hiring for 15-hour/week and 10-hour/week positions.
