Recently , the Student Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (SAMFT) was nominated for several leadership awards due to the outstanding effort exhibited in coordinating and conducting the annual conference. As a result of all of their hard work, at this year's Student Organizational Leadership Awards Ceremony, SAMFT was awarded the OUTSTANDING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AWARD!!
The Student Association of Marriage and Family Therapy coordinates an annual conference focusing on topics related to the field of MFT. Not only is this conference open to current and prospective students, SAMFT also invites local and non-local professionals to attend as well. For each conference, speakers are hand-picked for their expertise in a specific area of the field and are eligible to provide CEUs for the professionals. These conferences have varied in topic areas; this year the conference focused on Integrated Care as well as the Treatment of Sex Offenders and Addiction. In the past topics have ranged from Eating Disorder concerns to special considerations for treatment with LBGT and Trans populations as well. The conferences added a new portion this year which included a poster presentation session. This poster presentation is open to professionals and students alike and allowed current MFT students to show case some of the work they have done within the MFT program here at App. SAMFT has done an amazing job of spreading the word and offering this opportunity to students and professionals within the local community and campus as well as across (at least) three states.
